Mandating Healthcare Providers to Cover Treatment of Gender Dysphoria

This bill requires certain public and private health insurance policies, including Medicaid, to cover the treatment of conditions relating to gender dysphoria and gender incongruence. It prohibits insurers from discriminating against individuals on the basis of gender identity or expression. The bill also authorizes the Commissioner of Insurance to suspend or revoke the certificate of a health insurer that fails to comply with these requirements. Additionally, the bill makes appropriations and authorizes expenditures to cover the costs of providing this coverage under Medicaid.1
