Penalties for Robbing a Financial Institution

Chamber of Origin: SenateUnder current law it is a Class C felony to, by use of force or threat to use imminent force, take property from an individual that is owned or under the custody or control of a financial institution. This bill provides that it is also a Class C felony to take such property by creating circumstances that would cause a reasonable person to believe use of force was imminent. A Class C felony is punishable by imprisonment for up to 40 years or a fine of up to $100,000, or both.1
