The National Origin-Based Antidiscrimination for Nonimmigrants (NO BAN) Act weakens national security by largely stripping the President of the authority to restrict travel from countries due to the addition of “religion” as a protected characteristic under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The bill is in response to President Trump’s efforts to combat terrorist activities by instituting travel bans on the countries of Chad, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen, which the Left has characterized as a “Muslim ban.” 1
